Historical description of the Nashorn vehicle

The self-propelled gun Nashorn (German for "rhinoceros") was based on the chassis of the PzKpfw III/IV. Armed with the famous 8.8 cm Pak 43/1 anti-tank gun, it was introduced into German Army service in 1943. The Nashorn was mainly used on the Eastern and Western Fronts to counter Soviet and Allied heavy tanks. The vehicle gained particular fame during the Battle of Kursk, where its powerful gun enabled it to effectively destroy the heaviest enemy vehicles from long distances.

Advantages of the Eduard 36266 Nashorn 1/35 Tamiya set

  • Precision photo-etched sheets allow you to replicate the finest details—handles, locks, welded plates, tool elements, protective screens, and many other authentic details that cannot be achieved with plastic parts alone.
  • High-quality material ensures ease of cutting, bending, and assembly on the model
  • Dedicated set for a specific Tamiya kit eliminates fitting issues
  • Increases the replica's realism by reproducing historical details, enhancing the model's competition and collector value.

What does the scale of the model mean?

A model scale designation such as 1:30 means the model is 30 times smaller than the original. Scale indicates proportion, not resolution or detail.

  • Models with a smaller number after the colon (e.g. 1:48, 1:32) are larger and have more detail.
  • Scales with higher numbers (e.g. 1:164, 1:200, 1:350) are smaller - good for collections, dioramas, or displaying many models together.
