Scale
1/72

What does the model scale mean?

The model scale designation, for example, 1:30, means that the model is 30 times smaller than the original. Scale determines the proportion, not the resolution or level of detail.

  • Models with a smaller number after the colon (e.g., 1:48, 1:32) are larger and have more detail.
  • Scales with a larger number (e.g., 1:164, 1:200, 1:350) are smaller—good for collections, dioramas, or displaying many models together.

Azur A101 Supermarine Sea Otter WWII Service (1/72) – plastic model kit by Azur

The Azur A101 Supermarine Sea Otter WWII Service model in 1:72 scale is a faithful representation of the legendary British flying boat from the Second World War. This plastic model kit is an excellent choice for enthusiasts of naval aviation and collectors of military models from the years 1939-1945.

The Supermarine Sea Otter was an amphibious flying boat designed and manufactured in the United Kingdom by Supermarine. This aircraft was the successor to the well-known Walrus, offering improved performance and an enhanced fuselage and propulsion system. First flown in 1938, the Sea Otter was widely used during World War II by the Royal Air Force and the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm, mainly for reconnaissance and search and rescue (SAR) missions, target-towing, and maritime patrols.

The Azur model is distinguished by its very high manufacturing quality and precise replication of details true to the original aircraft. The kit includes:

  • Plastic parts for the fuselage, wings, landing gear, and detailed cockpit interior
  • Clear canopy glazing
  • Detailed assembly instructions and colorful decals with authentic RAF World War II markings

This model is intended for intermediate and advanced modelers. The 1/72 scale offers a compromise between detail and display convenience, and also allows for easy integration into historical dioramas. The high quality of the plastic sprues ensures precise assembly; however, due to the complexity of the build and details (including the biplane wing configuration), prior modeling experience at a 3/5 level is recommended.

We especially recommend the Azur A101 Supermarine Sea Otter WWII Service to military aviation enthusiasts, collectors of British World War II aircraft models, and modelers building maritime rescue dioramas. This is an excellent choice for anyone looking to expand their collection with a unique and somewhat forgotten, yet extremely important flying boat that saved the lives of both Allied pilots and sailors.

The product does not include glue or paints—for complete assembly, we recommend using specialized plastic model adhesives and acrylic or enamel paints as suggested by the manufacturer.
